Το Android Development Team της Google ανακοίνωση σήμερα οτι οι developers μπορούν να "πάρουν μια γεύση" απο την επόμενη έκδοση της πλατφόρμας Android. H καινούργια έκδοση (που θα είναι η 1.5) βασίζεται σε ενα branch του cupcake.
Η έκδοση 1.5 εισάγει καινούργιες δυνατότητες όπως soft keyboards, home screen widgets, live folders, και αναγνώριση φωνής.

Στο developer site, μπορείτε να κατεβάσετε την "early-look" έκδοση του Android 1.5 SDK, να διαβάσετε σημαντικές πληροφορίες για την αναβάθμιση του Eclipse plugin και των υπάρχων projects, και να μάθετε όλα τα καινούργια features αλλά και τις αλλαγές που έγιναν στο Android 1.5.

Επίσης έχουν γίνει αλλαγές στα εργαλεία και στη δομή του ίδιου του SDK. Στο μέλλον το Android SDK θα περιλαμβάνει πολλαπλές εκδόσεις της πλατφόρμας Android. Για παράδειγμα, αυτή η "early-look" έκδοση του Android περιλαμβάνει τις εκδόσεις 1.1 και 1.5. Ένα πλεονέκτημα αυτής της αλλαγής είναι ότι οι προγραμματιστές μπορούν να εστιάσουν σε διαφορετικές εκδόσεις της πλατφόρμας μέσα από μία και μόνη εγκατάσταση του SDK.

Στις επόμενες εβδομάδες θα δημοσιευτούν μια σειρά άρθρων για να καταδείξουν τα νέα APIs και τις άλλες αλλαγές. Εκτός από τα νέα APIs, θα καλύφθούν θέματα όπως το OpenGL, asynchronous tasks, system settings, και τα νέα Activity callbacks.
